“Atrapados” is a piece of theatre that speaks about the (im)possibility to free oneself from the “mental prisons” in which we incarcerate ourselves as individuals, on one side, and the rigid norms of society on the other. This very hilarious piece narrates in a raw, organic and credible manner, the process of shutting oneself in: the characters meet when they are trapped in the epicenter (not necessarily of an earthquake, but of a situation that bears likeness to one), a place where reason and madness cross each other, and see themselves once again locked up, through a paradoxical liberation, this time in the “cloister of imagination”.

MEMORY FOR THE ABSENTS

MEMORY FOR THE ABSENTS (Memoria para los Ausentes) has been presented in the scene of events and Human Rights campaigns. It has been presented in the Comision de la Verdad y Reconciliacion (Truth and Reconciliation Committee) in Public Assistance in Peru, in the city of Abancay. Also in seminars and workshops of the Humans Rights networks of which we are part of. The performance has traveled to Brazil and has been presented in the World Social Forum 2005 in Porto Alegre, and in an Art-Educators Brazilian Association (ABRA) meeting in Florianapolis. It has also been presented in Canada within the framework of cultural exchanges.

SINOPSIS

“In Peru a long period of subversive violence has deeply marked the country. Between the injuries of this dirty war, one kept open: the one of the missing persons, thousands of kidnapped persons whose bodies never have been found, letting entire communities in fear and doubt. Today, Peruvian people see horror coming back while clandestine graves are discovered in several regions of Peru.

It is important for us to know all the truth about where did they take the missing ones and all the victims of the war.

Memory for the Absents superimpose past and present, life and death and faces up the responsible ones for these crimes. ”
